Last week we had another successful international tournament, this time in the women's category. Eight teams from seven different countries were divided into two different groups:
Group A: Dunaújváros (Hungary), England White, Ireland, Austria
Group B: Euskal Selekzioa (Basque), England Red, Czech Republic, Wales
Thailand was originally supposed to play instead of Dunaújváros but was replaced because they decided to withdraw from the tournament.
The tournament was held as usual in Brno, Czech Republic.
The teams played three matches each in their groups, which determined their ranking.
After finishing all games played in the group, four semi-final matches were played:
Hungary vs. Euskal Selekzioa 16:6
England White vs. England Red 5:7
Ireland vs. Wales 15:5
Austria vs. Czech Republic 10:18
Then everything was decided. Hungary played for gold against England red, Euskal Selekzioa played for bronze against England white. The match for fifth place was between Ireland and the Czech Republic, and the match for seventh place was between Wales and Austria.
Match for 7th place:
Wales – Austria 10:6 (1:2, 3:1, 3:2, 3:1)
Match for 5th place:
Ireland – Czech Republic 11:10 (4:1, 2:4, 2:1, 3:4)
Bronze-medal match:
Euskal Selekzioa – England White 11:10 (4:2, 4:2, 2:5, 1:1)
Gold-medal match:
Dunaújváros – England Red 13:5 (4:1, 1:1, 4:1, 4:2)
After the medal ceremony, individual awards were given:
Most valuable player: Cecily Lily Turner from England Red
Best goalkeeper: Lilla Maczko from Dunaújváros
Best goalscorer: Dorina Dobi from Dunaújváros
